With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Alice Ann Denhardt (née Richards), age 95, on July 6, 2026, in West Bend, Wisconsin. Born on February 27, 1931, in Covington, Indiana, Alice lived a long and fulfilling life marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. She was raised in Indiana before moving to Wisconsin in 1956.
Alice graduated from Indiana University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and considered herself a lifelong Hoosier fan. Her passion for learning and teaching was evident throughout her life as she instilled the importance of proper communication and grammar in her children and grandchildren. A self-proclaimed grammar perfectionist, she ensured that those around her understood the value of clear and effective expression.
Alice married the love of her life, Robert R. Denhardt, with whom she shared 72 cherished years, until his passing in 2025. Together, they raised five children: Jeffery (Jane) Denhardt of Plain City, Ohio, Kris (Elaine) Denhardt of Presque Isle, Wisconsin, Janice (Carl) Schmidt of Hartland, Wisconsin, James (Deborah) Denhardt of Fredonia, Wisconsin, and William (Debbie Lynn) Denhardt of Westfield, Indiana. Alice was deeply involved in their lives and activities—serving as a den mother, Sunday school teacher, PTA member, and more. Her nurturing spirit extended to her role as a grandmother to eleven grandchildren and great-grandmother to twenty great-grandchildren.
Alice’s life was enriched by her many hobbies and interests. She had a deep love for gardening, particularly tending to flowers that brought beauty to her surroundings. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and spending time in northern Wisconsin where they created countless memories together and with their children. An active woman throughout her life, Alice embraced water skiing, cross-country skiing, and golf with enthusiasm.
Her kindness and gentle manner left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Alice’s clear vision for living was a testament to her inner strength—a beautiful woman not only in appearance but also in character. Her legacy is one of love, grace, and dedication to family. May the memory of Alice Ann Denhardt bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family intends to hold a private service at a later date. Donations to The Kathy Hospice in West Bend, Wisconsin are greatly appreciated.
